Stocks have pushed up to new morning highs with help from a pleasing report on pending home sales. The news has been especially beneficial for shares of homebuilders, such that the SPDR S&P Homebuilders ETF (XHB 20.47, +0.50) is up 2.5%.
Pending home sales for May spiked by 5.9%, which is far better than the 0.5% uptick that had been expected, on average, among economists polled by Briefing.com. The jump also makes for a positive turn from the 5.5% drop that was experienced in the prior month.
